Art Nouveau // Liberty London ♥

L'Art Nouveau è stata una filosofia e uno stile artistico che ebbe origine e diffusione in Europa nel primo decennio del Novecento. In Italia questo stile si diffuse inizialmente con la denominazione Stile Floreale ma, successivamente, sarà noto come Liberty, dal nome dei magazzini inglesi di Arthur Lasenby Liberty, che vendevano stampe e oggetti esotici che si ispiravano a motivi floreali, che diverranno tipiche di questa nuova corrente artistica.

Art Nouveau was a philosophy and an art style that originated and spread in Europe in the first decade of the twentieth century. In Italy this style has spread as “Liberty”, from the name of some British stores created by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, that was selling prints and exotic objects that were inspired by floral designs, which are typical of this artistic movement. 

Questo grande magazzino mi ha incuriosito fin da subito, a causa della struttura caratteristica ed originale e della storia che ha alle spalle, che viene mantenuta tutt’ora con la vendita di prodotti esclusivi e tessuti. All’entrata è presente un fioraio che crea delle composizioni, per introdurci in pieno nel mondo floreale! 

This store intrigued me right away, due to the characteristic structure and and the story behind it, which is still maintained with the sale of exclusive products and fabrics. At the entrance there is a florist who creates compositions, to welcome us in the world of flowers! 

Il famoso grande magazzino londinese “Liberty” aperto nel 1875, contiene una miriade di articoli d'avanguardia. Si trova al 210-220 Regent Street e tra gli innovativi marchi di abbigliamento per donna e uomo vi sono Vivienne Westwood, Chloé, Martine Sitbon e Dries Van Noten. Attualmente è presente una collezione Nike dedicata al tema floreale tipico di liberty. Come si può notare dal loro sito web, l’offerta dei prodotti è praticamente illimitata e permette di soddisfare tutti gusti. Comunque, anche soltanto una visita (senza l’intenzione di acquistare qualcosa) credo sia immancabile in un viaggio a Londra.

The famous London department store "Liberty" which opened in 1875, contains a myriad of cutting edge articles. It is located at 210-220 Regent Street and there are a lot of innovative clothing brands for men and women: Vivienne Westwood, Chloé, Martine Sitbon and Dries Van Noten. Currently, Nike has a collection dedicated to the typical Art Nouveau floral theme. As you can see from their website, the product range is practically unlimited and can satisfy all tastes. However, even a visit (without the intention to buy something) I think it is a must during a trip to London.

Il pezzo che mi ha attirato di più e che credo rispecchi in pieno lo stile e la fantasia liberty è l’orologio, creato con un semplice (ma d’effetto!) nastro a stampa floreale...
